Fast Track Publication in Medical Journals: Timelines, Plans and How to Choose

IndexedPub Editorial Team 6 min read

Short answer: Fast track publication in an Embase-indexed medical journal typically takes 7–15 days from submission to publication with IndexedPub. Basic takes 20–25 days and Express aims for 3–7 days. Every plan includes peer review and a Crossref DOI, and you pay only after acceptance. For the current fee for your journal, message us on WhatsApp or use our contact form.

When a thesis submission, promotion review or residency application is coming up, the questions are practical: how long will it take, what do I get, and is it worth choosing a faster plan? This guide lays out our plans side by side so you can decide in a few minutes.

What a faster plan gives you

A faster plan doesn't skip any steps. It moves your paper to the front of each queue:

The plan covers handling, not the outcome. Acceptance still depends on peer review, which is why we only collect payment once your paper is accepted.

How to choose the right plan

Choose Basic if your deadline is more than a month away

You get the same journals, peer review and DOI on a standard timeline. If you have time, there is no reason to pay for speed.

Choose Fast Track if you need publication within about two weeks

This is the plan most authors choose. It fits most thesis and promotion deadlines, and the certificate is included.

Choose Express if your deadline is days away

Express works best when the manuscript is already in good shape: correctly formatted, with ethics approval and clean references. If major revisions are needed, no plan can promise a 3-day turnaround, so polish the paper before you submit.

Tip: the biggest delays come from incomplete submissions, not slow reviewers. Missing ethics approval, wrong reference style or a high similarity score can add a week on any plan. Our technical screening and journal submission formatting service fix these before review starts.

What to look for in any fast publication journal

Open access journals usually charge an article processing charge (APC) to cover peer review and production, and fees vary widely between publishers. What matters more than the fee is what you get for it:

A cheap journal that is not really indexed is money wasted, and a paper published there may not count towards your promotion. Read more about telling rapid journals from predatory ones.

Not the same as an Embase subscription

Our fees are author publication charges. They are unrelated to the cost of subscribing to the Embase database, which Elsevier sells to institutions. You do not need an Embase subscription to publish. See Embase pricing explained for the difference.

How to get started

  1. Pick a journal that matches your subject from our Embase-indexed journals list.
  2. Contact us on WhatsApp or through the contact form for the current fee, or go straight to submission and select your plan.
  3. Get your peer review decision, make any revisions, and pay only once your paper is accepted.

Frequently asked questions

How much does fast track publication cost?

The fee depends on the journal and the plan you choose. Message us on WhatsApp or use our contact form and we will send you the current fee for your journal. You pay only after your manuscript is accepted.

How long does fast track publication take?

Our Fast Track plan typically completes peer review and publication in 7 to 15 days. Express aims for 3 to 7 days, and Basic takes 20 to 25 days. Papers that need major revisions take longer on any plan.

Does paying for fast track guarantee acceptance?

No. Every plan includes real peer review, and a paper can still need revisions or be rejected. A faster plan buys priority handling and a shorter timeline, not a decision. That is also why payment is collected only after acceptance.

Which plan should I choose?

Choose Basic if you have more than a month before your deadline, Fast Track if you need the paper published within about two weeks, and Express if your deadline is within days and your manuscript is already well prepared.
